The story
The first Slovenian sound feature film was based on the novella and screenplay by Ciril Kosmač. The story takes place during the last two years of the liberation struggle in Primorska. The inhabitants of the typical coastal village suffered Italian occupation and later German occupation since the Treaty of Rapala after the First World War. For them, resistance is an opportunity to break free from foreign domination. The film is both a war film about the partisan struggle and also a film that shows a village and its inhabitants who unitedly supported this struggle.
