In a small town under Italian rule, the inhabitants, with the exception of the authorities, are Slovenes. However, the shame of the town lies in three mocked brothers who have joined the fascists. The humorous love and marriage stories of the main characters reveal both the bright and dark sides of life in the coastal countryside during the interwar period. This is the first Slovenian film in which the characters speak in dialect, and it remains a true classic, one of the greatest comedic achievements of Slovenian cinema.

"Being a creator – this is an immeasurable happiness... Beyond personal and family happiness, it is the most valuable thing one can experience: giving something of yourself to others, drawing them into your view of the world, making them laugh or cry." – France Štiglic
